(Energy Resources) filed an application for a preliminary permit, pursuant to section 4(f) of the Federal Power Act (FPA), proposing to study the feasibility of the New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam Hydroelectric Project (project) to be located at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ New Savannah Bluff Lock and Dam on the Savannah River in Aiken County, South Carolina. The proposed project would consist of the following: (1) A 300-foot-long, 90foot-wide intake area; (2) a 98-foot-long, 45-foot-wide powerhouse containing two vertical Kaplan turbine-generator units with a total capacity of 8 megawatts; (3) a 350-foot-long, 120-footwide tailrace; (4) a 60-foot-long, 50-footwide substation; and (5) a 6.54-milelong, 69 kV transmission line.
