Notice of
this meeting is in compliance with the
Federal Advisory Committee Act (Title
5 U.S.C. Appendix). The Lower
Mississippi River Waterway Safety
Advisory Committee is an advisory
committee authorized in Section 19 of
the Coast Guard Authorization Act of
1991, (Public Law 102–241), as
amended by section 621(d) of the Coast
Guard Authorization Act of 2010,
(Public Law 111–281) and chartered
under the provisions of the Federal
Advisory Committee Act. The Lower
Mississippi River Waterway Safety
Advisory Committee provides advice
and recommendations to the
Department of Homeland Security on
matters relating to communications,
surveillance, traffic management,
anchorages, development and operation
of the New Orleans Vessel Traffic
Service, and other related topics dealing
with navigation safety on the Lower
Mississippi River as required by the
U.S. Coast Guard.
SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:
Agenda
At 9 a.m., the Lower Mississippi River
Waterway Safety Advisory Committee
will meet to review, discuss, deliberate,
and formulate recommendations, as
appropriate, on the topics contained in
the agenda, as follows: 9 a.m. to 9:30
a.m.: (Open to Committee members
only). Federal Advisory Committee Act
administrative matters to include Lower
Mississippi River Waterway Safety
Advisory Committee member training.
At 9:30 a.m., the meeting will open to
the public.
(1) Introduction and swearing-in of
new members.
(2) Status of Action Items from March
2015 meeting.
(a) Mile Marker 73 Memorandum of
Understanding.
(b) Anchorage Establishment and
Amendments.
(c) Systematic Port Planning.
(d) Lower Mississippi River Waterway
Safety
Advisory Committee Vacancy Notice
(3) Further development of systematic
port planning principles and
procedures.
(4) Public Comment Period.
(5) Adjournment of meeting.
Public comments or questions will be
taken throughout the meeting as the
Committee discusses the issues and
prior to deliberations and voting. There
will also be a public comment period at
the end of the meeting. Speakers are
requested to limit their comments to 3
