AGENCY: We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all General Electric Company (GE) GEnx– 1B64/P2, –1B67/P2, –1B70/P2, –1B70C/ P2, –1B70/75/P2, and –1B74/75/P2 turbofan engines with engine assembly, part number (P/N) 2447M10G01 or P/N 2447M10G02, installed. This AD was prompted by a report of a significant fan rub event. This AD requires rework of the engine fan stator module assembly. We are issuing this AD to prevent failure of the fan blades and the load reduction device, loss of power to one or more engines, loss of thrust control, and loss of the airplane. DATES: This AD is effective November 18, 2016. The Director of the Federal Register approved the incorporation by reference of certain publications listed in this AD as of November 18, 2016.
