These interested individuals are required to submit the ‘‘Application to Operate a MARS Station’’ for verification of individual requirements/certification and acceptance before acceptance into the program. Once accepted into the MARS program, the information provided on the application is entered into the MARS membership database so the Program Manager has an accurate and current roster of all individuals who are members of Army MARS. The member information specifically the email address, is used by the Program Manager to send out general information about the MARS program, upcoming training events and other related activities. The member phone number is also used on occasion contact members to discuss the MARS program and gain their insight and observations. The postal address is used to create a general overview of where MARS members are located throughout the world and map radio network coverage the postal address is also used to mail certificates of achievement and appreciation to those members who excel in participation supporting the MARS program. The date of birth is used to verify applicants meet the minimum age requirement for MARS program inclusion and to initiate a security clearance background check (if required).
