AGENCY: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is requesting public comment on its draft SFM-Interim Staff Guidance (ISG)—2, Revision 2, ‘‘Fuel Retrievability.’’ This revision to the guidance was developed to improve regulatory clarity due to uncertain duration of spent fuel storage in an independent spent fuel storage installation (ISFSI). The revision would provide improved guidance to the staff on the process to determine whether spent fuel storage systems are designed to allow ready retrieval of spent fuel.
