The Subcommittee will discuss Spent
Fuel Storage and Transportation. The
Subcommittee will hear presentations
by and hold discussions with the NRC

regarding this matter. The
Subcommittee will gather information,
analyze relevant issues and facts, and
formulate proposed positions and

ACTION: Draft interim staff guidance;
request for comment.
AGENCY:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory
Commission (NRC) is requesting public
comment on its draft SFM-Interim Staff
Guidance (ISG)—2, Revision 2, ‘‘Fuel
Retrievability.’’ This revision to the
guidance was developed to improve
regulatory clarity due to uncertain
duration of spent fuel storage in an
independent spent fuel storage
installation (ISFSI). The revision would
provide improved guidance to the staff
on the process to determine whether
spent fuel storage systems are designed
to allow ready retrieval of spent fuel.
DATES: Submit comments by November
20, 2015. Comments received after this
date will be considered if it is practical
to do so, but the Commission is able to
ensure consideration only for comments
received before this date.
