AGENCY:
The Department of the
Treasury, as part of its continuing effort
to reduce paperwork and respondent
burden, invites the general public and
other Federal agencies to take this
opportunity to comment on proposed
and/or continuing information
collections, as required by the
Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995,
Public Law 104–13 (44 U.S.C.
3506(c)(2)(A)). Currently, the IRS is
soliciting comments concerning
Revenue Procedure 96–60, Procedure
for filing Forms W–2 in certain
acquisitions.
DATES: Written comments should be
received on or before September 25,
2015 to be assured of consideration.

Revenue Procedure Number: Revenue
Procedure 2004–53.
Abstract: The information is required
by the Internal Revenue Service to assist
predecessor and successor employers in
complying with the reporting
requirements under Internal Revenue
Code sections 6051 and 6011 for Forms
W–2 and 941.
Current Actions: There are no changes
being made to the revenue procedure at
this time.
Type of Review: Extension of a
currently approved collection.
Affected Public: Business or other forprofit organizations.
Estimated Number of Respondents:
553,500.
Estimated Time per Respondent: 12
minutes.
Estimated Total Annual Burden

Abstract: The primary purpose of
these forms is to provide a method of
reporting identity theft issues to the IRS
so that the IRS may document situations
where individuals are or may be victims
of identity theft. Additional purposes
include the use in the determination of
proper tax liability and to relieve
taxpayer burden. The information may
be disclosed only as provided by 26
U.S.C. 6103.
Current Actions: There is no change
in the paperwork burden previously
approved by OMB. This form is being
submitted for renewal purposes only.
