Public Forum—Awake, Alert, Alive:
Overcoming the Dangers of Drowsy
Driving
On Tuesday, October 21, the National
Transportation Safety Board (NTSB)
will convene a public forum titled
Awake, Alert, Alive: Overcoming the
Dangers of Drowsy Driving. This event
is free and open to the public. No
preregistration is required. NTSB Board
Member Mark R. Rosekind, Ph.D., will
serve as the presiding officer of the
forum.
The 1-day forum will focus on the
problem of drowsy driving, its
prevalence, and how it affects driving
safety in noncommercial vehicles.
Invited panelists will examine the risk
factors associated with drowsy driving
and consider various countermeasures
to address drowsy driving and drowsy
driving crashes.

The ACRS Subcommittee on
Reliability & PRA will hold a meeting
on October 15, 2014, Room T–2B1,
11545 Rockville Pike, Rockville,
Maryland.
The meeting will be open to public
attendance with the exception of
portions that may be closed to protect
information that is proprietary pursuant
to 5 U.S.C. 552b(c)(4). The agenda for
the subject meeting shall be as follows:

The Subcommittee will discuss staff’s
progress of level 3 Probabilistic Risk
Assessment (PRA) Project. The
Subcommittee will hear presentations
by and hold discussions with the NRC
staff and other interested persons
regarding this matter. The
Subcommittee will gather information,
analyze relevant issues and facts, and
formulate proposed positions and
actions, as appropriate, for deliberation
by the Full Committee.
Members of the public desiring to
provide oral statements and/or written
comments should notify the Designated
