Sunshine Act Meeting
Pursuant to the provisions of the
‘‘Government in the Sunshine Act’’ (5
U.S.C. 552b), notice is hereby given that
at 10:01 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5,
2014, the Board of Directors of the
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
met in closed session to consider
matters related to the Corporation’s
supervision, corporate, and resolution
activities.
In calling the meeting, the Board
determined, on motion of Vice
Chairman Thomas M. Hoenig, seconded
by Director Jeremiah O. Norton
(Appointive), concurred in by Director
Thomas J. Curry (Comptroller of the
Currency), Director Richard Cordray
(Director, Consumer Financial
Protection Bureau), and Chairman
Martin J. Gruenberg, that Corporation
business required its consideration of
the matters which were to be the subject
of this meeting on less than seven days’
notice to the public; that no earlier
notice of the meeting was practicable;
that the public interest did not require
consideration of the matters in a
meeting open to public observation; and
that the matters could be considered in
a closed meeting by authority of
subsections (c)(4), (c)(8), (c)(9)(B), and
(c)(10) of the ‘‘Government in the
Sunshine Act’’ (5 U.S.C. 552b(c)(4),

(Pub. L. 92–463), the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC)
announces the following meeting for the
aforementioned committee:

Purpose: The Secretary, the Assistant
Secretary for Health, and by delegation
the Director, CDC, are authorized under
Sections 301 and 308 of the Public
Health Service Act to conduct directly
or by grants or contracts, research,
experiments, and demonstrations
relating to occupational safety and
health and to mine health. The Board of
Scientific Counselors shall provide
guidance to the Director, NIOSH on
research and prevention programs.
Specifically, the Board shall provide
guidance on the Institute’s research
activities related to developing and
evaluating hypotheses, systematically
documenting findings and
disseminating results. The Board shall
evaluate the degree to which the
activities of NIOSH: (1) Conform to
appropriate scientific standards, (2)
address current, relevant needs, and (3)
produce intended results.

Health program, the proposed NIOSH
carcinogen policy, and NIOSH
implementation of National Academies’
recommendations for the NIOSH
