The information collected is used to determine if applicants are medically qualified to perform the duties associated with the class of airman medical certificate sought. The Federal Register Notice with a 60-day comment period soliciting comments on the following collection of information was published on February 11, 2014, vol. 79, no. 28, page 8233. FAA received one comment from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission regarding Form 8500–14, noting that when used in the employment context, line 5 of the form, which asks whether the applicant has a family history of glaucoma, poses a conflict with the requirements of Title II of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008.
