Production under FTZ procedures could exempt Noramco from customs duty payments on the foreign status inputs used in export production. On its domestic sales, Noramco would be able to choose the duty rate during customs entry procedures that apply to the tapentadol hydrochloride (duty free) for the foreign status inputs noted below. Additionally, customs duties could be deferred or reduced on foreign status production equipment. The chemical inputs sourced from abroad are: 2S,3R-1-(dimethylamino)-3(3-methoxyphenyl)-2-methyl-3pentanol; and, (2R,3R)-3-(3methoxyphenyl)-N,N,2trimethylpentanamine monohydrobromide (duty rate, 6.5%).
