The Western Pacific Fisheries
Management Council (Council) will
convene public informational scoping
meetings in Guam and Commonwealth
of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI)
to solicit comments on the management
of the bottomfish fishery within the EEZ
of the Mariana Islands. The scoping
meeting will, among other things,
describe the existing federal
management regime for bottomfish
species, examine the current
performance of the fishery and consider
the need for potential regulatory
changes.
DATES: Public informational scoping
meetings will be held in CNMI on
November 18, 2013 and in Guam
November 19, 2013. See SUPPLEMENTARY
INFORMATION for specific dates, times
and locations.

Teams will compile and review the
annual Groundfish Stock Assessment
and Fishery Evaluation (SAFE) reports,
including the Economic Report, the
Ecosystems Consideration Chapter, the
stock assessments for BSAI and GOA
groundfishes, and recommend final
groundfish harvest specifications for
2014/15.
The Agenda is subject to change, and

Although non-emergency issues not
contained in this agenda may come
before this group for discussion, in
accordance with the Magnuson-Stevens
Fishery Conservation and Management
Act (Magnuson-Stevens Act), those
issues may not be the subject of formal
action during this meeting. Actions will
be restricted to those issues specifically
identified in this notice and any issues
arising after publication of this notice
that require emergency action under
Section 305(c) of the Magnuson-Stevens
Act, provided the public has been
notified of the Council’s intent to take
final action to address the emergency.
