(Enhydra lutris kenyoni) from the wild
in the State of Alaska via capture,
tagging, biological sampling, carcass
retrieval, and aerial and boat surveys for
the purpose of scientific research on the
status of sea otters in Alaska. Permittee
would also import and export biological
specimens. This notification covers
activities to be conducted by the
applicant over a 5-year period.
Concurrent with publishing this
notice in the Federal Register, we are
forwarding copies of the above
applications to the Marine Mammal
Commission and the Committee of
Scientific Advisors for their review.

activities with endangered species,
marine mammals, or both. We issue
these permits under the Endangered
Species Act (ESA) and Marine Mammal
Protection Act (MMPA).

filed in good faith, (2) The granted
permit would not operate to the
disadvantage of the endangered species,
and (3) The granted permit would be
consistent with the purposes and policy
