In accordance with the
Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, this
notice invites the general public and
other public agencies to comment on
this proposed information collection.
This is a new collection for research on
the impact of implementation of the
Patient Protection and Affordable Care
Act (ACA) on the operations of, and
participation in, the Supplemental
Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
DATES: Written comments must be
received on or before May 13, 2013.

Abstract: The Supplemental Nutrition
Assistance Program (SNAP) is the
USDA’s largest nutrition program,
helping over 46 million low-income
Americans (in fiscal year 2012) to
purchase food. The program,
administered by the Food and Nutrition
Service (FNS), is designed to respond to
broad economic and individual
circumstances as they change over time.
The program’s operating environment
will be influenced importantly by the
implementation of the ACA.
This study will assess the impact of
ACA implementation on participation
in the SNAP among nonelderly
nondisabled adults, ages 19–64. This
issue has major significance not only in
its implications for Federal and State
