Abstract: The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is the USDA’s largest nutrition program, helping over 46 million low-income Americans (in fiscal year 2012) to purchase food. The program, administered by the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), is designed to respond to broad economic and individual circumstances as they change over time. The program’s operating environment will be influenced importantly by the implementation of the ACA. This study will assess the impact of ACA implementation on participation in the SNAP among nonelderly nondisabled adults, ages 19–64.
