The surplus properties include: the former Naval Hospital, the former Navy Lodge, Tank Farms 1 and 2, and the Defense Highway/Stringham Road Corridor. Potential impacts associated with reuse of the surplus properties at NAVSTA Newport, including changes in land use and traffic patterns, will be evaluated and will contribute to the alternatives considered.

FMCSA announces its decision to exempt 7 individuals from the vision requirement in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs). They are unable to meet the vision requirement in one eye for various reasons. The exemptions will enable these individuals to operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) in interstate commerce without meeting the prescribed vision requirement in one eye. The Agency has concluded that granting these exemptions will provide a level of safety that is equivalent to or greater than the level of safety maintained without the exemptions for these CMV drivers.

The Board stated in the August 15, 2012 notice that the hearing record would remain open until November 2, 2012, for the receipt of additional materials. The Board made the same representation at the conclusion of the hearing on October 2, 2012.
