The Self-
Demonstration Evaluation examines a
reemployment program targeted towards
dislocated workers, as defined by the
Workforce Investment Act, who wish to
start or grow a business in their fields
of expertise. The demonstration will
seek to connect such workers to selfemployment training, intensive business
development assistance, and other
services (including seed capital
microgrants) to help them become more
successful in self-employment. The
main objective of the evaluation of the
SET Demonstration is to understand
whether providing dislocated workers
with access to intensive business
development services and selfemployment training increases their
likelihood of reemployment, their
earnings, and their propensity to start a
business.
