Guidelines for Preparing and Reviewing Licensing Applications for Instrumentation and Control Upgrades for Non-Power Reactors, 58419-58420 [2012-23326]

Download as PDF Federal Register / Vol. 77, No. 183 / Thursday, September 20, 2012 / Notices for each alternative was assigned one of the following three significance levels: • SMALL. The environmental effects are not detectable or are so minor that they would neither destabilize nor noticeably alter any important attribute of the resource. • MODERATE. The environmental effects are sufficient to noticeably alter, but not destabilize important attributes of the resource. • LARGE. The environmental effects are clearly noticeable and are sufficient to destabilize important attributes of the resource. The evaluation concludes that the potential environmental impacts of all six alternatives in all resource and impact areas would be SMALL, with the exception of potential impacts on historic and cultural resources from construction of long-term waste storage facilities in Alternatives 3 and 4A, which could be SMALL to MODERATE. Reasons for the mostly SMALL impacts, by resource or impact area, are discussed in the Draft Report. Dated at Rockville, Maryland, this 12th day of September, 2012. For the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Andrew Persinko, Deputy Director, Environmental Protection and Performance Assessment Directorate, Division of Waste Management and Environmental Protection, Office of Federal and State Materials and Environmental Management Programs.
