The Burlington Street Dam is owned and operated by the University of Iowa. A preliminary permit does not authorize the permit holder to perform any land-disturbing activities or otherwise enter upon lands or waters owned by others without the owners’ express permission. The proposed project would consist of: (1) The existing 291-foot-long by 14foot-high concrete gravity dam; (2) a new 50-foot-long by 50-foot-wide by 50foot-high powerhouse, containing two 0.75-megawatt (MW) vertical flume propeller-type turbine/generator units for a total capacity of 1.5 MW; (3) a new 2-foot-long by 40-foot-wide by 15-foothigh intake structure; (4) a new 400foot-long, 12.7-kilovolt transmission line; and (5) appurtenant facilities.
