On November 8, 2011 (76 FR 69294), the NRC extended the comment period to December 15, 2011. On March 8, 2012, the NRC issued a memorandum from the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation to the Office of New Reactors that (1) dispositioned the public comments received on the draft generic letter; and (2) stated that the GI–199 generic letter (i.e., the generic letter on seismic risk evaluations for operating reactors) is subsumed and entirely captured within the proposed Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 50.54(f) letter addressing the Fukushima NearTerm Task Force Recommendations 2.1 and 2.3. SUMMARY: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is withdrawing 
draft Generic Letter 2011-XX, ``Seismic Risk Evaluations for Operating 
Reactors'' published on September 1, 2011 (76 FR 54507). The draft 
Generic Letter, ``Seismic Risk Evaluations for Operating Reactors,'' 
regarding Generic Issue (GI)-199 is subsumed and entirely captured 
within the request for information letters addressing the Fukushima 
Near-Term Task Force Recommendations 2.1 and 2.3. The request for 
information letters were issued on March 12, 2012, and are available 
electronically in a package under Agencywide Documents Access and

ML12073A366. With the issuance of this letter, the Draft Generic Letter 
2011-XX need not be finalized and issued. Accordingly, the NRC is 
withdrawing Draft Generic Letter 2011-XX.
