SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: On August
2, 2011, notice was published in the
Federal Register (76 FR 46279) that a
request for an amendment to Permit No.
87–1851–03 to conduct research on
Weddell seals (Leptonychotes weddellii)
had been submitted by the above-named
applicant. The requested permit
amendment has been issued under the
authority of the Marine Mammal
Protection Act of 1972, as amended (16
U.S.C. 1361 et seq.), and the regulations
governing the taking and importing of
marine mammals (50 CFR part 216).
Permit No. 87–1851–04 changes the
expiration date of the permit from
January 31, 2012 to December 31, 2012,
and authorizes capture, tagging, and
sampling of 35 Weddell seals, and
