Comment Request
The Department of Commerce will
submit to the Office of Management and
Budget (OMB) for clearance the
following proposal for collection of
information under the provisions of the
Paperwork Reduction Act (44 U.S.C.
Chapter 35).
Agency: Bureau of Industry and
Security (BIS).
Title: Competitive Enhancement
Needs Assessment Survey Program.
OMB Control Number: 0694–0083.
Form Number(s): N/A.
Type of Request: Regular submission
(extension of a currently approved
information collection).
Burden Hours: 2,400.
Number of Respondents: 2,400.
Average Hours per Response: 1 hour.
Needs and Uses: The Defense
Production Act of 1950, as amended,
and Executive Order 12919, authorizes
the Secretary of Commerce to assess the
capabilities of the defense industrial
base to support the national defense.
They also develop policy alternatives to
improve the international
competitiveness of specific domestic
industries and their abilities to meet
defense program needs. The information
collected from voluntary surveys will be
used to assist small and medium in
defense transition and in gaining access
to advanced technologies and
manufacturing processes available from
Federal laboratories. The goal is to
improve regions of the country
adversely affected by cutbacks in
defense spending and military base
closures.
Affected Public: Business or other forprofit organizations.
Frequency: On occasion.

ACTION: Notice of an open meeting.
AGENCY:
The National Advisory
Council on Innovation and
Entrepreneurship will hold a meeting
on Tuesday, Sept 13, 2011. The open
meeting will be conducted from 10 a.m.
to 12 p.m. (EDT). A limited number of
seats are available to members of the
public who would like to attend the
meeting in person. The public can also
dial in to the meeting via a listen-only
conference number 888–942–9574,
passcode 6315042. The Council was
chartered on November 10, 2009, to
advise the Secretary of Commerce on
matters relating to innovation and
entrepreneurship in the United States.
DATES: Sept. 13, 2011.

purpose of this meeting is to provide a
progress report on outcomes related to
NACIE’s earlier work on access to
capital and technology
commercialization; update the council
on ongoing Administration priorities,
including Startup America and the
President’s Council on Jobs and
Competitiveness; and continue work
focusing on regional innovation
ecosystems, technology
commercialization, and high-growth
entrepreneurship. The agenda may
change to accommodate NACIE
business. The final agenda will be
posted on the NACIE Web site at http:
//www.eda.gov/nacie.
Any member of the public may
submit pertinent written comments
concerning the Council’s affairs at any
time before and after the meeting.
