information collection for three years.
Abstract
Section 10 of the National Science
Foundation Act of 1950 (42 U.S.C. 1861
et seq.), as amended, states that ‘‘The
Foundation is authorized to award,
within the limits of funds made
available * * * scholarships and
graduate fellowships for scientific study
or scientific work in the mathematical,
physical, biological, engineering, social,
and other sciences at accredited U.S.
institutions selected by the recipient of
such aid, for stated periods of time.’’
The Graduate Research Fellowship
Program is designed to meet the
following objectives:
• To select, recognize, and financially
support individuals with the
demonstrated potential to be high
achieving scientists and engineers.
• To broaden participation in science
and engineering.
The list of GRFP Fellows sponsored
by the Foundation may be found via

Notice is hereby given that, pursuant
to the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995
(‘‘PRA’’) (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.), the
Securities and Exchange Commission
(‘‘Commission’’) is soliciting comments
on the existing collection of information
provided for in Rule 17a–19 (17 CFR
240.17a–19) and Form X–17A–19 under
the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 (15
U.S.C. 78a et seq.). The Commission
plans to submit this existing collection
of information to the Office of
Management and Budget (‘‘OMB’’) for
extension and approval.
Rule 17a–19 requires national
securities exchanges and registered
national securities associations to file a
Form X–17A–19 with the Commission
within 5 days of the initiation,
suspension or termination of a member
in order to notify the Commission that
a change in designated examining
authority may be necessary.
It is anticipated that ten national
securities exchanges and registered
national securities associations
collectively will make 1,200 total filings
annually pursuant to Rule 17a–19 and
that each filing will take approximately
15 minutes. The total burden is
estimated to be approximately 300 total
annual hours.
