This notice announces a forthcoming
meeting of a public advisory committee
of the Office of the National Coordinator
for Health Information Technology
(ONC). The meeting will be open to the
public.
Name of Committee: HIT Policy
Committee.
General Function of the Committee:
To provide recommendations to the
National Coordinator on a policy
framework for the development and
adoption of a nationwide health
information technology infrastructure
that permits the electronic exchange and
use of health information as is
consistent with the Federal Health IT
Strategic Plan and that includes
recommendations on the areas in which
standards, implementation
specifications, and certification criteria
are needed.
Date and Time: The meeting will be
held on March 2, 2011, from 10 a.m. to
3 p.m. Eastern Time.

the Meaningful Use Workgroup, the
Privacy & Security Tiger Team, the
Information Exchange Workgroup, the
Enrollment Workgroup, the PCAST
Report Workgroup, and the Quality
Measures Workgroup. ONC intends to
make background material available to
the public no later than two (2) business
days prior to the meeting. If ONC is
unable to post the background material
on its Web site prior to the meeting, it
will be made publicly available at the
location of the advisory committee
meeting, and the background material
will be posted on ONC’s Web site after
the meeting, at https://healthit.hhs.gov.
Procedure: Interested persons may
present data, information, or views,
orally or in writing, on issues pending
before the committee. Written
submissions may be made to the contact
person on or before February 28, 2011.
Oral comments from the public will be
scheduled between approximately 2:30
p.m. to 3 p.m. Time allotted for each
presentation is limited to three minutes.
If the number of speakers requesting to
comment is greater than can be
reasonably accommodated during the
scheduled open public hearing session,
ONC will take written comments after
the meeting until close of business.
Persons attending ONC’s advisory
committee meetings are advised that the
agency is not responsible for providing
access to electrical outlets.
ONC welcomes the attendance of the
public at its advisory committee
meetings. Seating is limited at the
location, and ONC will make every
effort to accommodate persons with
physical disabilities or special needs. If
you require special accommodations
due to a disability, please contact Judy
Sparrow at least seven (7) days in
advance of the meeting.

In compliance with the requirement
of Section 3506(c)(2)(A) of the
Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 for
opportunity for public comment on
proposed data collection projects, the
Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) will publish periodic
summaries of proposed projects. To
request more information on the
proposed projects or to obtain a copy of
the data collection plans and
instruments, call 404–639–5960 and

Comments are invited on: (a) Whether
the proposed collection of information
is necessary for the proper performance
of the functions of the agency, including
whether the information shall have
practical utility; (b) the accuracy of the
agency’s estimate of the burden of the
proposed collection of information; (c)
ways to enhance the quality, utility, and
clarity of the information to be
collected; and (d) ways to minimize the
burden of the collection of information
on respondents, including through the
use of automated collection techniques
or other forms of information
technology. Written comments should
be received within 60 days of this
notice.
Proposed Project
The National Health and Nutrition
Examination Survey (NHANES) Birth
Certificate Linkage Study—New —
National Center for Health Statistics
(NCHS), Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC).
NCHS’s Division of Health and
Nutrition Examination Surveys
(DHANES) proposes to re-contact
women who were pregnant at the time
of their participation in NHANES in
1999–2010 and ask permission to link
their data to the child’s birth certificate
data, for the birth that resulted after the
survey. This study is funded in
collaboration with CDC’s National
Center for Chronic Disease Prevention
and Health Promotion, Division of
Reproductive Health (DRH).
Participation is completely voluntary
and confidential.
