opportunity for public comment on the
proposed collection of certain
information by the agency. Under the
Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) of
1995, Federal agencies are required to
publish notice in the Federal Register
concerning each proposed collection of
information, including each proposed
extension of a currently approved
collection, and allow 60 days for public
comment in response to the notice. This
notice solicits comments on the
information needed to determine a
claimant’s eligibility for increased
disability benefits.

Abstract: Veterans receiving
compensation benefits based on 30
percent or higher for service-connected
injuries and depends on his or her
parent(s) for support complete VA Form
21–509 to report income and
dependency information. Surviving
parents of deceased veterans are
required to establish dependency only if
they are seeking death compensation.
Death compensation is payable when a
veteran died on active duty or due to
service-connected disabilities prior to
January 1, 1957, or died between May 1,
1957 and January 1, 1972 while the
veteran’s waiver of U.S. Government
Life Insurance was in effect. The data
collected will be used to determine the
dependent parent(s) eligibility for
benefits.

Abstract: Veterans obtaining a VAguaranteed home loan must pay a
funding fee to VA before the loan can
be guaranteed. The only exceptions are
loans made to veterans receiving VA
compensation for service-connected
disabilities, (or veterans whom, but for
receipt of retirement pay, would be
entitled to receive compensation) and
unmarried surviving spouses of veterans
who died in active military service or
from service-connected disability
regardless of whether the spouse has his
or her own eligibility.
