This meeting will also address the role local communities and governments should play in the development and demonstration of new nuclear technologies and the key safety, environmental and security concerns for local communities, and how these concerns should be addressed. Additionally the meeting will also address issues of the U.S. manufacturing sector and the labor force’s ability to support new reactor and fuel cycle technologies. Tentative Agenda: The meeting is expected to start at 8 a.m. on August 30th with panel presentations beginning at 8:15 and ending at 3:30 p.m. The meeting is expected to reconvene at 8 a.m. on August 31st with panel presentations through 3 p.m., with a public comment period from 3 p.m. through 4 p.m. Public Participation: Subcommittee meetings are not required to be open to the public; however, the Commission has elected to open the presentation sessions of the meeting to the public. Individuals and representatives of organizations who would like to offer comments and suggestions may do so at the end of the public session on Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Approximately 1 hour will be reserved for public comments from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Time allotted per speaker will depend on the number who wish to speak but will not exceed 5 minutes. The Designated Federal Officer is empowered to conduct the meeting in a fashion that will facilitate the orderly conduct of business.
