Business Policy Task Force and the
Council of Chief State School Officers
Task Force. From 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The August 6, 2010 Board meeting is
scheduled to conclude at 5:00 p.m.
On August 7, the Nominations
Committee will meet in closed session
from 7:45 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. to review
and discuss specific names for Board
vacancies, and their qualifications for
Board membership for Board terms
beginning October 1, 2010. These
discussions pertain solely to internal
personnel rules and practices of an
agency and will disclose information of
a personal nature where disclosure
would constitute an unwarranted
invasion of personal privacy. As such,
the discussions are protected by
exemptions 2 and 6 of section 552b(c)
of Title 5 U.S.C.
The full Board will meet in open
session on August 7 from 8:30 a.m. to
9:30 a.m. to receive a status report on
implementation of the Board policy on
Testing and Reporting on Students with
Disabilities and English Language
Learners. Thereafter, the Board will
receive Committee reports and take
action on Committee recommendations.
The August 7, 2010 session of the Board
meeting is scheduled to adjourn at 12
noon.
Detailed minutes of the meeting,
including summaries of the activities of
the closed sessions and related matters
that are informative to the public and
consistent with the policy of section 5
U.S.C. 552b(c) will be available to the
public within 14 days of the meeting.
Records are kept of all Board
proceedings and are available for public
inspection at the U.S. Department of
Education, National Assessment

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:
Purpose of the Board: The purpose of
the Board is to make recommendations
to DOE–EM and site management in the
areas of environmental restoration,
waste management, and related
activities.
Purpose of the Environmental
Monitoring, Surveillance and
Remediation Committee (EMS&R): The
EMS&R Committee provides a citizens’
perspective to NNMCAB on current and
future environmental remediation
activities resulting from historical Los
Alamos National Laboratory operations
and, in particular, issues pertaining to
groundwater, surface water and work
required under the New Mexico
Environment Department Order on
Consent. The EMS&R Committee will
keep abreast of DOE–EM and site

assistance in determining priorities and

Formal recommendations will be

Purpose of the Waste Management
Committee: The Waste Management
Committee reviews policies, practices
and procedures, existing and proposed,
so as to provide recommendations,
advice, suggestions and opinions to the
NNMCAB regarding waste management
operations at the Los Alamos site.
