Abstract: The information is required of institutions of higher education that apply for grants under SIP. Without the collection of this information, the Department cannot award grants under Title III, Part A SIP authorized under the Higher Education Act of 1965, (HEA) as amended by the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA). The program staff and peer reviewers will use the information to evaluate applications and make funding decisions. The purpose of SIP is to provide grants to eligible institutions of higher education (IHEs) to help them become self sufficient and expand their capacity to serve low-income students by providing funds to improve and strengthen their academic quality, institutional management and fiscal stability. This information collection is being submitted under the Streamlined Clearance Process for Discretionary Grant Information Collections (1894– 0001). Therefore, the 30-day public comment period notice will be the only public comment notice published for this information collection.
