Most users do not need a license to operate
this wireless microphone system.
Nevertheless, operating this microphone
system without a license is subject to certain
restrictions: The system may not cause
harmful interference; it must operate at a low
power level (not in excess of 50 milliwatts);
and it has no protection from interference
received from any other device. Purchasers
should also be aware that the FCC is
currently evaluating use of wireless
microphone systems, and these rules are

SUMMARY: The Audio Division grants a
Petition for Rule Making issued at the
request of Maupin Broadcasting
Company, requesting the allotment of
Channel 244C2 at Maupin, Oregon, as
its first local service. A staff engineering
analysis indicates that Channel 244C2
can be allotted to Maupin consistent
with the minimum distance separation
requirements of the Rules with a site
restriction 1.2 kilometers (0.7 miles)
west located at reference coordinates
45–10–24 NL and 121–05–43 WL.
