On September 14, 2009, Muskingum Valley Hydro filed an application for a preliminary permit, pursuant to section 4(f) of the Federal Power Act, proposing to study the feasibility of the Muskingum Valley Deer Creek Dam Hydroelectric Project No. 13584, to be located at the existing Deer Creek Dam, on the on the Deer Creek, in Pickaway County, Ohio. The existing Deer Creek Dam is owned and operated by the U.S. Corps of Engineers, and includes the existing reservoir, dam, outlet works, and tailrace. The proposed project would consist of: (1) A new 30-foot-long by 30foot-wide powerhouse to be located on the downstream side of Deer Creek Dam below the outlet works; (2) two 50-footlong, 48-inch-diameter penstocks; (3) two new turbine generator units for a total installed capacity of 9.15 megawatts; (4) a new 400-foot-long, 14.7-kilovolt transmission line; and (5) appurtenant facilities.
