The FEIS for the relocation of the airport was issued in May 2006. The FAA issued a ROD for this federal action in September 2006. Airport facilities are currently being constructed at the new airport site. This ROD is issued for a Written Reevaluation of the FEIS because the Panama City-Bay County Airport and Industrial District (Airport Sponsor) has proposed to extend the primary runway (Runway 16L–34R) from 8,400 feet to 10,000 feet. This ROD approves the extension and other minor changes as shown on a revised Airport Layout Plan (ALP) that has been submitted to the FAA. Subsequent to this ROD, the FAA will conditionally approve the revised ALP. Petitions to revoke the exemption under 49 U.S.C. 10502(d) may be filed at any time. The filing of a petition to revoke will not automatically stay the effectiveness of the exemption. Petitions for stay must be filed no later than December 9, 2009 (at least 7 days before the exemption becomes effective).
