The proposed reporting burden, totaled from Tables 1 and 2, is 253,724 respondents and 48,715.153 hours. This reduction of 20,205.847 reporting hours is due to a combination of fewer notices being mailed by States and acted on by individuals/households; a decrease in required documents and activities for State governments; and, changes due to agency adjustments. TOP places a recordkeeping burden on State governments which is contained in the following Table 3. There is no recordkeeping burden for individuals and households. sponsoring a public meeting on October 8, 2009. The objective of the 
public meeting is to provide information and receive public comments on 
agenda items and draft United States positions that will be discussed 
at the 31st Session of the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for 
Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU) of the Codex Alimentarius Commission

November 6, 2009. In addition, a working group will meet on October

Background

    The Codex Alimentarius Commission (Codex) was established in 1963 
by two United Nations organizations, the Food and Agriculture 
Organization and the World Health Organization. Through adoption of 
food standards, codes of practice, and other guidelines developed by 
its committees, and by promoting their adoption and implementation by 
governments, Codex seeks to protect the health of consumers and ensure 
that fair practices are used in trade.
    The CCNFSDU was established to study specific nutritional problems
