ACTION: Notice and request for
comments.
SUMMARY: The Department of the
Treasury, as part of its continuing effort
to reduce paperwork and respondent
burden, invites the general public and
other Federal agencies to take this
opportunity to comment on proposed
and/or continuing information
collections, as required by the
Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995,
Public Law 104–13 (44 U.S.C.
3506(c)(2)(A)). Currently, the IRS is
soliciting comments concerning Form
4136, Credit for Federal Tax Paid on
Fuels.
DATES: Written comments should be
received on or before July 13, 2009 to be
assured of consideration.

Title: Credit for Federal Tax Paid on
Fuels.
OMB Number: 1545–0162.
Form Number: 4136.
Abstract: Internal Revenue Code
section 34 allows a credit for Federal
excise tax for certain fuel uses. Form
4136 is used to figure the amount of
income tax credit. The data is used by
IRS to verify the validity of the claim for
the type of nontaxable or exempt use.
Current Actions: Form 4136 was
revised due to Legislation or Chief
Counsel Guidance, which was required
by Public Law 110–289. This revision
also resulted in an addition of 1 code
reference and 14 line items, increasing
burden hours to 4,618,145.
Type of Review: Revision of a
currently approved collection.
Affected Public: Business or other forprofit organizations, and individuals or
households.
