In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (Commission) regulations, 18 CFR Part 380 (Order No. 486, 52 FR 47897), the Office of Energy Projects has reviewed the application for license for the Smith Mountain Pumped Storage Project (FERC No. 2210), located on the headwaters of the Roanoke River in Bedford, Campbell, Franklin, and Pittsylvania counties in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Commission staff have prepared a draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the project, which was issued on March 27, 2009. In addition to, or in lieu of, sending written comments, all interested individuals, organizations, and agencies are invited to attend a public meeting. The time and location of the meeting is as follows: Date: Thursday, April 30, 2009. Time: 7 p.m.–10 p.m. Place: Franklin County High School (Auditorium).
