Notice of decision approving
lands for conveyance.
ACTION:

SUMMARY: As required by 43 CFR
2650.7(d), notice is hereby given that an
appealable decision approving lands for
conveyance pursuant to the Alaska
Native Claims Settlement Act will be
issued to Chinuruk Incorporated. The
lands are in the vicinity of Umkumiute,
Alaska, and are located in:
Seward Meridian, Alaska
T. 6 N., R. 89 W.,
Secs. 1 and 2;
Secs. 11 to 15, inclusive;
Sec. 22.
Containing approximately 5,120 acres.
T. 7 N., R. 89 W.,
Sec. 36.
Containing approximately 640 acres.
T. 3 N., R. 90 W.,
Secs. 1, 2, and 12.
Containing approximately 1,609 acres.
Total aggregate of approximately 7,369
acres.
A portion of the subsurface estate in these
lands will be conveyed to Calista Corporation
when the surface estate is conveyed to
Chinuruk Incorporated. The remaining lands
lie within Clarence Rhode National Wildlife
Range, established January 20, 1969. The
subsurface estate in the refuge lands will be
reserved to the United States at the time of
conveyance. Notice of the decision will also
be published four times in the Tundra
Drums.
The time limits for filing an
appeal are:
1. Any party claiming a property
interest which is adversely affected by
the decision shall have until November
20, 2008 to file an appeal.
2. Parties receiving service of the
decision by certified mail shall have 30
days from the date of receipt to file an
appeal.
Parties who do not file an appeal in
accordance with the requirements of 43
CFR Part 4, Subpart E, shall be deemed
to have waived their rights.

announces an extension of call for
nominations from the public for five
members of its Desert District Advisory
Council to serve the 2009–2011 threeyear term.
The five positions to be filled include:
— One renewable resources
representative
— One elected official
— One transportation/Rights-of-Way
— One renewable energy interests
— One public-at-large
DATES: Nominations will be accepted
through Monday, December 1, 2008.
The three-year term would begin
January 1, 2009.

Protection and Repatriation Act
(NAGPRA), 25 U.S.C. 3005, of the intent
to repatriate cultural items, for which
the University of Oregon Museum of
Natural and Cultural History, Eugene,
OR, and U.S. Department of Defense,
Army Corps of Engineers, Portland
District, Portland, OR, have joint
responsibility, that meet the definition
of ‘‘unassociated funerary objects’’
under 25 U.S.C. 3001.
This notice is published as part of the
National Park Service’s administrative
responsibilities under NAGPRA, 25
U.S.C. 3003 (d)(3). The determinations
in this notice are the sole responsibility
of the museum, institution, or Federal
agency that has control of the cultural
items. The National Park Service is not
responsible for the determinations in
this notice.
