After the presentation the Council will review and vote on applications and guidelines, and the meeting will conclude with a general discussion. If, in the course of the open session discussion, it becomes necessary for the Council to discuss non-public commercial or financial information of intrinsic value, the Council will go into closed session pursuant to subsection (c)(4) of the Government in the Sunshine Act, 5 U.S.C. 552b. Additionally, discussion concerning purely personal information about individuals, submitted with grant applications, such as personal biographical and salary data or medical information, may be conducted by the Council in closed session in accordance with subsection (c)(6) of 5 U.S.C. 552b. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is issuing the new Regulatory Guide 1.210, ‘‘Qualification of Safety-Related Battery Chargers and Inverters for Nuclear Power Plants.’’ The NRC’s regulatory guides describe and make available to the public information such as methods that are acceptable to the NRC staff for implementing specific parts of the agency’s regulations, techniques that the staff uses in evaluating specific problems or postulated accidents, and data that the staff needs in its review of applications for permits and licenses. The regulations in Title 10, Part 50, ‘‘Domestic Licensing of Production and Utilization Facilities,’’ of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR Part 50) require that structures, systems, and components that are important to safety in a nuclear power plant must be designed to accommodate the effects of environmental conditions (i.e., remain functional under postulated designbasis events (DBEs)).
