ACTION: Notice of availability of the Draft Environmental Impact. Statement/ Environmental Impact Report (EIS/EIR) and notice of public hearing. AGENCY: SUMMARY: Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (as amended) and the California Environmental Quality Act, the Bureau of Reclamation and the California Department of Fish and Game as lead agencies have made available for public review and comment a joint Draft EIS/ EIR for the American Basin Fish Screen and Habitat Improvement Project. The Draft EIS/EIR describes and presents the environmental effects of four alternatives, including no action, to modify the Natomas Mutual Water Company’s water division and distribution system, thereby avoiding and minimizing potentially adverse affects to fish, particularly juvenile anadromous fish. A public hearing will be held to receive comments from individuals and organizations on the Draft EIS/EIR. DATES: Written comments on the Draft EIS/EIR will be accepted on or before May 2, 2008. A public hearing will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on March 19, 2008 in Sacramento, CA. Oral or written comments will be received regarding the project’s environmental effects.
