Pursuant to the provisions of the
‘‘Government in the Sunshine Act’’ (5
U.S.C. 552b), notice is hereby given that
at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12,
2008, the Federal Deposit Insurance
Corporation’s Board of Directors will
meet in closed session, pursuant to
section 552b(c)(4), (c)(6), (c)(8), and
(9)(A)(ii) of Title 5, United States Code,
to consider matters relating to the
Corporation’s supervisory and corporate
activities.
The meeting will be held in the Board

• Proposed rules for residential
mortgage transactions
Members will discuss the Board’s
proposal to establish new regulatory
protections for consumers in the
residential mortgage market through
amendments to Regulation Z, which
implements the Truth in Lending Act
and the Home Ownership and Equity
Protection Act. The proposal addresses
unfair, abusive, or deceptive lending
and servicing practices and mortgage
advertising practices, and would also
require creditors to provide consumers
with transaction–specific cost
disclosures earlier.
• Foreclosure issues
Members will discuss issues related to
home foreclosures, such as loss–
mitigation strategies and counseling
initiatives.
Reports by committees and other
matters initiated by Council members
also may be discussed.

Granting of Request for Early
Termination of the Waiting Period
Under the Premerger Notification
Rules
Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust
Improvements Act of 1976, requires
persons contemplating certain mergers
or acquisitions to give the Federal Trade
Commission and the Assistant Attorney
General advance notice and to wait
designated periods before
consummation of such plans. Section
7A(b)(2) of the Act permits the agencies,
in individual cases, to terminate this
waiting period prior to its expiration
and requires that notice of this action be
published in the Federal Register.
The following transactions were
granted early termination of the waiting
period provided by law and the
premerger notification rules. The grants
were made by the Federal Trade
Commission and the Assistant Attorney
General for the Antitrust Division of the
Department of Justice. Neither agency
intends to take any action with respect
to these proposed acquisitions during
the applicable waiting period.

The Consumer Advisory Council will meet on Thursday, March 6, 2008.
