Environmental Impact Statement for
the Yadkin Project and the Yadkin-Pee
Dee River Project
September 28, 2007.
In accordance with the National
Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and
the Federal Energy Regulatory
Commission’s (Commission)
regulations, 18 CFR part 380 (Order No.
486, 52 FR 47897), the Office of Energy
Projects has reviewed the applications
for relicense for the Yadkin Project
(FERC No. 2197) and the Yadkin-Pee
Dee River Project (FERC No. 2206),
located on the Yadkin and Pee Dee
rivers in central North Carolina near
Charlotte, North Carolina and has
prepared a Draft Environmental Impact
Statement (draft EIS) for the projects.
The existing 210-megawatt (MW)
Yadkin Project and the existing 108.6–
MW Yadkin-Pee Dee River Project do
not occupy any federal lands.
In the draft EIS, staff evaluates the
applicants’ proposals and alternatives
for relicensing the projects. Staff’s
analysis includes evaluation of
settlement agreements filed with the
Commission for both projects which
