Abstract: ATF F 5 (5320.5) is used to
apply for permission to transfer a
National Firearms Act (NFA) firearm
exempt from transfer tax bases on
statutory exemptions. The information
on the form is used by NFA Branch
personnel to determine the legality of
the application under Federal, State and
local law.
(5) An estimate of the total number of
respondents and the amount of time
estimated for an average respondent to
respond: There will be an estimated
7,888 respondents, who will complete
the form within approximately 4 hours.

The Department of Justice (DOJ),

the following information collection

Budget (OMB) for review and approval
in accordance with the Paperwork
Reduction Act of 1995. The proposed
information collection is published to
obtain comments from the public and
affected agencies. This proposed
information collection was previously
published in the Federal Register
Volume 72, Number 141, page 40325–
40326 on July 24, 2007, allowing for a
60-day comment period.
The purpose of this notice is to allow
for an additional 30 days for public

Limited Permit is useful to the person
making a one-time purchase from outof-state. It is used one time only and is
nonrenewable. The explosives
distributor makes entries on the form
and returns the form to the permittee to
prevent reuse of the permit.
(5) An estimate of the total number of
respondents and the amount of time
estimated for an average respondent to
respond: There will be an estimated
1,092 respondents, who will complete
and retain the form within
approximately 12 minutes.

Abstract: The information collection is
submitted to implement the permanent
provisions of the Brady Law. These
provisions provide for the establishment
of a national instant criminal
background check system (NICS) which
requires that a firearms licensee must
contact NICS before transferring any
firearm to unlicensed individuals.
Section 478.150 provides for an
alternative to NICS in certain
geographical locations.
(5) An estimate of the total number of
respondents and the amount of time
estimated for an average respondent to
respond: It is estimated that 106,000
respondents will comply with the
provisions of the Brady Handgun
Violence Prevention Act.
