VA will use the information collected to determine whether a loan default is insoluble or whether the obligor has reasonable prospects for curing the default and maintaining the mortgage obligation in the future. The information will also be used to intercede with the holder of the loan to accept a specially arranged repayment plan or other forbearance aimed at assisting the obligor in retaining his or her home.
