The categories of records in the system have been expanded to include the use of Social Security Numbers (or alternatively, the driver’s license numbers, passport numbers or alien registration numbers) of the stockholders, officers, and directors of individual ocean transportation intermediaries (OTIs); corporate organizational documents and business licenses; and the inclusion of surety bond information required by statute with respect to licensed OTIs. This additional information is required for the staff to be able to determine whether or not an applicant, or existing licensee, is qualified for licensing or continues to meet the regulatory requirements of an OTI. Routine uses of the information maintained in the system have been expanded to reflect that the Commission may provide or update information maintained in the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Automated Commercial Environment/International Trade Data System for the purpose of verifying the licensed or registered status of OTIs under the Trade Act of 2002 and for related CBP purposes.
