Magnuson-Stevens Reauthorization Act (MSRA) includes language authorizing the establishment of a Council Coordination Committee (CCC) consisting of the chairs, vice chairs, and executive directors of each of the 8 Councils, or other council members or staff, in order to discuss issues of relevance to all Councils, including issues related to the implementation of the MSRA. This action will allow the CFMC to implement the MSRA requirement. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The purpose of the STAR Panel meetings is to review draft stock assessment documents and any other pertinent information, work with the Stock Assessment Teams to make necessary revisions, and produce STAR Panel reports for use by the Council family and other interested persons. No management actions will be decided by these STAR Panels. The STAR Panels’ role will be development of recommendations and reports for consideration by the Council at either its June meeting in Foster City, CA (sablefish and longnose skate) or its September meeting in Boise, ID (black rockfish, blue rockfish, bocaccio, and chilipepper rockfish). Although non-emergency issues not contained in the meeting agenda may come before the STAR Panel participants for discussion, those issues may not be the subject of formal STAR Panel action during these meetings.
