Abstract: The collection of
information is needed to simplify
administration for examiners of a
binding annual election provided by the
Regulations. The information will be
used by taxpayers to determine the
amount of excess interest expense
allocable to effectively connected
income under an elective allocation
method in § 1.882–5. The respondents
are only regulated foreign banking
corporations that elect to use the
adjusted U.S. booked liability method
for allocating interest expense to
effectively connected income.
Current Actions: There is no change to
this existing regulation.
Type of Review: Extension of a
currently approved collection.
Affected Public: Business or other forprofit institutions.

information to be collected; (d) ways to
minimize the burden of the collection of
information on respondents, including
through the use of automated collection
techniques or other forms of information
technology; and (e) estimates of capital
or start-up costs and costs of operation,
maintenance, and purchase of services
to provide information.
