Abstract: This regulation concerns the election made by a related group of controlled foreign corporations to determine foreign base company shipping income and qualified investments in foreign base company shipping operations on a related group basis. The information required is necessary to assure that the U.S. shareholder correctly reports any shipping income of its controlled foreign corporations which is taxable to the shareholder. The purpose of the form is to allow individuals that are not required to file an individual income tax return to claim a refund of the federal telephone excise taxes paid. The taxes must have been paid after February 28, 2003 and before August 1, 2006. This form can only be filed once. Current Actions: There are no changes being made to the form at this time.
