AGENCY:
SUMMARY: The U.S. Department of
Agriculture (USDA) is soliciting
nominations for membership on the
National Advisory Committee on Meat
and Poultry Inspection (NACMPI). The
full Committee consists of no less than
16 and no more than 18 members, and
each person selected is expected to
serve a two year term. Existing members
can serve three consecutive two year
terms. USDA is soliciting nominations
in order to fill 16 to 18 vacancies on the
Committee.
DATES: Nomination materials must be
received no later than October 12, 2006.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: In
accordance with the Federal Advisory
Committee Act, 5 U.S.C. app. 2, USDA
is seeking nominees for membership on
the National Advisory Committee on
Meat and Poultry Inspection. The
Committee provides advice and
recommendations to the Secretary on
meat and poultry inspection programs,
pursuant to sections 7(c), 24, 301(a)(3),
and 301(c) of the Federal Meat

Committee will meet at least twice
annually.

AGENCY:
Public awareness of all segments of
rulemaking and policy development is
important. Consequently, in an effort to
ensure that minorities, women, and
persons with disabilities are aware of
this notice, FSIS will announce it online through the FSIS Web page located
at https://www.fsis.usda.gov/regulations/
2006_Notices_Index/. FSIS also will
make copies of this Federal Register
publication available through the FSIS
Constituent Update, which is used to
provide information regarding FSIS
policies, procedures, regulations,
Federal Register notices, FSIS public
meetings, recalls and other types of
information that could affect or would
be of interest to constituents and
stakeholders. The update is
communicated via Listserv, a free
electronic mail subscription service for
industry, trade and farm groups,
consumer interest groups, allied health
professionals, and other individuals
who have asked to be included. The
update is available on the FSIS Web
page. Through the Listserv and Web
SUMMARY: The Food Safety and
Inspection Service (FSIS) is reopening
and extending the comment period for
the 2005 updated Harvard Risk
Assessment of bovine spongiform
encephalopathy (BSE). The original
comment period closed on August 11,
2006. The Agency is taking this action
in response to a comment that was
submitted after the Agency held its July
25, 2006, technical meeting to provide
information on the updated risk
assessment model and report.

27, 2006.
