As announced on May 30, 2006, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) will meet with utility and railroad representatives to discuss railroad coal-delivery matters and their impact on markets and electric reliability. These discussions are intended to assist the Commission in understanding better the jurisdictional implications, if any, of this issue. This meeting was requested in two letters recently sent to the Commission by American Public Power Association, National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, Edison Electric Institute, and Electric Power Supply Association.
