Abstract: VA will use the data
collected to determine whether the
health care needs of amputee and
severely injured veterans returning from
Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring
Freedom are being met and to identify
areas where improvement is needed.
Affected Public: Individuals or
households.
Estimated Total Annual Burden: 60
hours.
Estimated Average Burden per
Respondent: 18 minutes.

that a meeting of the Veterans’ Advisory
Committee on Environmental Hazards
will be held on June 26–27, 2006, from
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The meeting
will be held in room 630 at the
Department of Veterans Affairs, 810
Vermont Avenue, NW., Washington,
DC. The meeting is open to the public.
The purpose of the Committee is to
provide advice to the Secretary of
Veterans Affairs on adverse health
effects that may be associated with
exposure to ionizing radiation and to
make recommendations on proposed
standards and guidelines regarding VA
benefit claims based upon exposure to
ionizing radiation.
The major items on the agenda for
both days will be discussions on
medical and scientific papers
concerning the health effects of
exposure to ionizing radiation. On the
basis of the discussion, the Committee
may make recommendations to the
Secretary concerning the relationship of
certain diseases to exposure to ionizing
radiation. On June 26, there will be a
presentation by VA’s Public Health and
Environmental Hazards Office.
Members of the public wishing to

minutes in the afternoon each day.
People wishing to make verbal
statements before the Committee will be
accommodated on a first-come, firstserved basis and will be provided 3
minutes per statement.

(VA) gives notice under Public Law 92–

construction and remodeling of VA
facilities and to recommend standards
for use by VA in construction and
alteration of its facilities.
One June 19, the Committee will
review developments in the fields of fire
safety issues and structural design as
they relate to seismic and other natural
hazards impact on the safety of
buildings. One June 20, the Committee
will receive appropriate briefings and
presentations on current seismic,
natural hazards and fire safety issues
that are particularly relevant to facilities
owned and leased by the Department.
The Committee will also discuss
appropriate structural and fire safety
recommendations for inclusion in VA’s
standards.
No time will be allocated for receiving
oral presentations from the public.
However, the Committee will accept
written comments. Comments should be
