Funding Opportunity Number: SGA 06–01. Catalogue of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) Number: 17.720. Executive Summary The U.S. Department of Labor (‘‘DOL’’ or ‘‘Department’’), Office of Disability Employment Policy (‘‘ODEP’’), announces the availability of up to $500,000 to fund one cooperative agreement for an 18-month period of performance. The goal of the cooperative agreement is for a Research Consortium to develop a standard design methodology and conduct case study research to identify ways in which an organization’s structures, values, policies and day-to-day practices, facilitate the employment of people with disabilities. These case studies will validate and document effective policies and strategies within corporations that have had success in recruiting, hiring, retaining and promoting people with disabilities. Researchers have identified a specific need for further study in this area, stating that more ‘‘data needs to be collected in actual workplace settings to make accurate assessments of the impact of corporate culture on employees with disabilities’’ (Schur, Kruse, & Blanck, 2005, p. 15) and that [i]t also would be valuable to compile detailed case studies of companies that have made concerted efforts to increase the hiring, retention and promotion of employees with disabilities. This would allow comparisons to be made of policies in different corporate settings, help identify ‘‘what works’’ in companies that have been successful in employing individuals with disabilities, and facilitate the development of ‘‘best practices’’ that serve as models for other employers. (Schur, Kruse, & Blanck, 2005, p. 15) The purpose of this Research Consortium is to conduct this much E:\FR\FM\10MYN1.SGM 10MYN1
