import 4 male and 4 female captive-bred
Japanese giant salamanders (Andrias
japonicus) from the Asa Zoological
Park, Japan, for the purpose of
enhancement of the survival of the
species.
Applicant: Animal Ark, Inc., Reno,
NV, PRT–110361.
The applicant requests a permit to
import two male captive-bred cheetahs
(Acinonyx jubatus) from the De Wildt
Cheetah and Wildlife Centre, South
Africa for the purpose of enhancement
of the survival of the species.

authorized by the provisions of the
Endangered Species Act of 1973, as
amended (16 U.S.C. 1531 et seq.), and/
or the Marine Mammal Protection Act of
1972, as amended (16 U.S.C. 1361 et
seq.), the Fish and Wildlife Service
issued the requested permits subject to
certain conditions set forth therein. For
each permit for an endangered species,
the Service found that (1) the
application was filed in good faith, (2)
the granted permit would not operate to
the disadvantage of the endangered
species, and (3) the granted permit
would be consistent with the purposes
and policy set forth in Section 2 of the
Endangered Species Act of 1973, as
amended.
