The company plans to manufacture
small quantities of the listed controlled
substances for use in diagnostic
products.
No comments or objections have been
received. DEA has considered the
factors in 21 U.S.C. 823(a) and
determined that the registration of
Varian, Inc. to manufacture the listed
basic class of controlled substances is
consistent with the public interest at
this time. DEA has investigated Varian,
Inc. to ensure that the company’s
registration is consistent with the public
interest. The investigation has included
inspection and testing of the company’s
physical security systems, verification
of the company’s compliance with state
and local laws, and a review of the
company’s background and history.
Therefore, pursuant to 21 U.S.C. 823,
and in accordance with 21 CFR 1301.33,
the above named company is granted
registration as a bulk manufacturer of
the basic class of controlled substances
listed.

ACTION:
The Department of Justice (DOJ),
Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau
of Justice Statistics (BJS), has submitted
the following information collection
request to the Office of Management and
Budget (OMB) for review and approval
in accordance with the Paperwork
Reduction Act of 1995. The proposed
information collection is published to
obtain comments from the public and
affected agencies. Comments are
encouraged and will be accepted for
‘‘sixty days’’ until October 21, 2005.
This process is conducted in accordance
with 5 CFR 1320.10.
If you have comments especially on
the estimated public burden or
associated response time, suggestions,

number is CFCL–1, Bureau of Justice

Department of Justice.
(4) Affected Public Who Will be Asked
or Required to Respond, as Well as a
Brief Abstract: Primary: State, Local, or
Tribal Government. Other: Federal
Government. This information
collection is a census of public crime
laboratories that perform forensic
analyses on criminal evidence. The
information will provide statistics on
laboratories’ capacity to analyze forensic
crime evidence, the number, types, and
sources of evidence received per year,
and the number, types, and costs of
analyses completed.
(5) An Estimate of the Total Number
of Respondents and the Amount of Time
Estimated for an Average Respondent to
Respond: It is estimated that 375
respondents will complete a three hour
form.
