Abstract: Form 8379 is used by a nonobligated spouse to request the nonobligated spouse’s share of a joint income tax refund that would otherwise be applied to the past due obligation owed to a state or Federal agency by the other spouse. The IRS uses the information provided by the injured spouse on Form 8379 to determine the proper allocation of the joint refund. Current Actions: There are no changes being made to the form at this time. Type of Review: Extension of a currently approved collection. Affected Public: Individuals or households. Estimated Number of Responses: 300,000. Estimated Time Per Response: 1 hour, 47 minutes. Estimated Total Annual Burden Hours: 531,000.
